Questions

The ones people actually ask

What does it cost?

$49 a month + HST, or $249 for six months + HST. Joining is free, and your plan only starts once there are at least three members in the network who fit you. From then on it’s a regular plan — billed every month, or once for the six months — whether or not a new proposal arrives that month. Not per proposal and not per introduction, and never will be — a service that charged again each time something didn’t work would earn more the worse it got at this.

Why do you take a card at joining if you don’t charge it?

So that the day there are three members who fit you, your plan can start without asking you to come back and pay first. We email you three days before it does, and you can choose “Not now” — nothing is charged if you do.

What if there’s nobody for me yet?

Then you don’t pay. You’ll see plainly that there is no one to propose yet, rather than being sent someone to fill the gap. We start in a few communities and grow from there.

Does the six-month plan renew by itself?

No. At the end of the six months we show you an honest summary and your options, and you decide.

What if we connect and it doesn’t work out?

There is a short pause of a week, and then proposals resume. Your plan carries on as it was — no second payment for trying again.

Can I see who else is on here?

No. Not a list, not a search, not a preview. You are shown up to three proposals at a time, each of whom fits what you are looking for, and that is the only way anyone is shown to anyone.

What happens if I say “not for me”?

Nothing. They never learn it, there is no penalty, and we won’t ask you to explain. We would far rather you declined honestly than said yes out of politeness.

What if I don’t answer a proposal?

It stays open for seven days and then quietly closes. That person won’t be proposed to you again.

Who sees my photographs?

Our team checks them before anyone else sees them. After that, only someone you have both said “interested” to — one match at a time, watermarked with their name, and never in any list.

When do they get my phone number?

Only when you have both agreed to exchange details, after you’ve been introduced. Until then neither of you has the other’s surname, phone or email.

Can a parent start this for me?

Yes. A parent or family member can begin a profile, and you receive an email to confirm it. Nothing is visible to anyone until you do, with your own answers and your own consent — and if you don’t, the draft is deleted within 14 days.

Can my wali be involved?

A wali is a guardian — usually a father or another close male relative, or an imam if there is no one — who looks out for someone’s interests in a marriage. Yes, they can be involved, at the level you choose: not at all, kept informed, or involved along the way. We don’t contact anyone who hasn’t agreed to be contacted.

What do the mosques have to do with it?

We work alongside local mosques, starting with a small group in the Greater Toronto Area. Through them you can ask your imam or a mosque representative for a community reference: a few honest lines from someone who knows you. You decide whether it is shown. It is never a score or a ranking.

How do you know people are who they say they are?

Every member verifies a government ID with a live selfie through Stripe Identity. We keep the result — never the document.

Is this Sunni only? Shia only?

Neither. We ask which tradition you identify with because it matters to most people’s matching, and you tell us what you’re open to. It isn’t a condition of joining.

I’m divorced. Is that a problem?

No. Divorced and widowed members are welcome. Members must be currently unmarried.

Do you arrange second marriages for married men?

No. See our standards.

Will you ask me about my past relationships?

Beyond whether you’ve been married before, no. Also on our standards, with the reasoning.

How long does this take?

Joining takes a few minutes; telling us properly who you are takes longer and can be done across several sittings. After that it depends on how many members fit you both ways — which is exactly why your plan doesn’t start until at least three do.

What happens to my information if I leave?

It expires on a schedule rather than sitting with us forever — see privacy.

Who is behind this?

A small team in the Greater Toronto Area, working with local mosques. Deliberately small while we begin.
